Red letter month for Allwood Stud

Red letter month for Allwood Stud

By Peter Wharton

Allwood Stud had a breakout month in June with no less than 30 winners either bred off the farm or sired by stud-owned stallions.

Resident sire Fly Like An Eagle showed the way with 15 individual winners in three different states. The list included the Gloucester Park winners Me Flash (1:55.7), Chaco Eagle (1:56.4), Torrevean Amy (1:58.5), Velocipede (1:58.7), Catch The Red Eye, Jackie Daniels, Escapefromreality and the three-year-old Dekla Diva.

Fly Like An Eagle has left 42 winners and progeny earnings of almost $700,000 to date this season.

Follow The Stars, owned by Allwood Stud and based at Medowie Lodge in NSW, enjoyed another very productive month. The Art Major horse sired nine individual winners in three states headed up by Per Ardua Ad Astra, who won four consecutive races at Globe Derby Park.

Follow The Stars has been represented by 36 winners and progeny earnings of $560,000 this year.

The decease Rock N Roll World again underlined his loss to the industry with five winners from his first crop as three-year-olds. The list included a double at Northam with Worlds Above and Pushbutton Rock and the 1:55.9 Pinjarra victor Rockin Le Monde.

Allwood Stud bred 13 winners and they won 17 races in June.

They included the metropolitan winners The Righteous, Jackie Daniels and Dekla Diva (Gloucester Park) and Per Ardua Ad Astra (Globe Derby Park).
